Pam::::::

Thank you for that, even though the news isn't good.

Seems as if there are still many unanswered Qs about
why or who, but it just doesn't make sense! I'll see what
I can find out from my meager contacts and pehaps I'll
ask all of you to e-mail on Connie's behalf once I know
more and where you ought to zap your comments.

Latest I've been able to glean is that it's liability
issues that are the cause, but why this crucial
factor was left until the last minute is beyond me.
This is the ONLY thing that is keeping her glued
to the tarmack, as far as I can tell.

Engine runs and taxi runs all completed. Crew
issues all sorted. She was SUPPOSED to FLY this
weekend!

Stay tuned, there may be more to come. I still
have a few lines in the water. STILL have no
specific web address for registering frustration....

It's shaping up in this fashion:

The Aviodrome theme park in Lelystad is the
entity that operates the Connie and they are
the ones who've pulled the plug, it seems, even
though people have been giving gifts specific to
THIS aircraft for a l-o-n-g time expecting to see
her fly.....

It is said that the Board of the Aviodrome is
packed with people from Air France/KLM, even
though they do not "own" the facility. Seems
that the aircraft was to have been insured for
liability under the AF/KLM "umbrella" as it was
previously. For some as yet unknown reason,
AF/KLM don't want to do this anymore -- even
though things were all hunky dory just a few days
ago....

DISCLAIMER: All of the above has been gathered
in bits and pieces from the internet. The definitive
story is supposed to come out over the weekend.

well Danf - many thanks for the digging around, despite the seemingly unhappy answers :(

a huge shame of this last minute technicality prevents her from flying this year - have you picked up any gossip on alternative plans to insure/indemnify her?

Well, none of this has been announced or explained
officially at this point. Not even a press release.

The aircraft is totally ready to go. The flight and
ground crews are totally ready to go. Many, many
people are beyond angry about this last-minute
nonsense. You'd have to expect that there are some
feverish activities going on Right NOW!

Our friend Ralph Pettersen is using all of his contacts
to try to find all of this out, and right now I'm just
awaiting that outcome.

well Ralph (roundengine on here) IS Mr Connie after all - I'm sure that whatever there IS to find out, he WILL!

fingers crossed though - i can only guess at just how hopping mad they all are out there, after all the support they've given only to have the proverbial rug pulled out from beneath them at the last minute! :(
