RAF Museum Hendon

Postby Gully » Wed Apr 15, 2009 10:49 am

Gill and I dropped into the RAF Museum at Hendon last week. Primarily to deliver a thank you gift to the security chap who went above and beyond to help us the night of the Vulcan Scramble, but it seemed churlish not to take a few photos...

Photobucket is being slow, so it may take a while to get them all here!

great pics, thanks Gully. my brother, definitely NOT an aviation fan, went to Hendon Museum a while back fr some other reason - even he said he was impressed by the collection!

can you confirm though - is Black Six - THE Black Six? i was only refreshing my memory on it the other day, but can't find anywhere that categorically states that, after the unfortunate flip at an airshow (forget which one) some years ago, Black Six was retired to Hendon :p

at least i was lucky enough to see her fly several times - great shame she's grounded :(

dog-fights with a Spit at Biggin were never the same after that fateful year :(

aha! thanks Gully - I'd called that definitive! =))

I've not read it all the way through yet, but what surprised me was that her 1990s restoration and display life was always limited anyway - i thought that she was destined to 'just keep going' - not so it seems!

makes me realise that i was even MORE lucky to have seen her display! :D

I take these were all taken with your 'new' camera Gully?

They were! Just using the standard 18-55mm lens that came with it and the built-in flash. I also used it for the Duxford and Shuttleworth piccies.
