The legendary X-15. The Shuttles grandpappy.. ;)

In the early 60s I did a school project on the North American X-15 and I wrote to ' X-15 c/o NACA Dryden Airforce base' and incredibly received a fabulous Press handout.. I was 10 or 11 at the time and this is one of those moments from the past that I haven't quite forgotten.

If only HD or Blu-Ray were available back then...

I watched the entire thing, Ian....

They would get me, lose me, and
then get me back ;)

These days I'm just wondering:
"Whither NASA?"

I am hoping for more greatness,
but we shall see, eh?

Thank you for that........

The Vulcan howl is primeval but the Starfighter howl is pure music to the ears...

These are greatly missed and never to be repeated scenes.

I remember years ago watching ,if I recall correctly, A Canadian Starfighter Display team ( 4 ship I think ) at Biggin Hill and part of their routine was when one or two performed a medium speed fly past the other two overtook them at high speed ,really showed the speed they were travelling because of the Juxtaposition of the aircraft and of course that " howl " as the Canadian commentator put it ! Happy days indeed !
Take only photographs, leave only footprints .

Came across this today, and I think
some of you might remember one of
these two aircraft from Exeter where
it lived for quite a while::::::::::::

I believe the one you're thinking of is
the one that was restored at Exeter
and has now gone to the USA -- it is
one of the two in the vid.....

Both now owned and operated by the
same owner, but they travel widely
in tandem and separately....
