Today we Commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and remember 'The Few' (as Winston Churchill described them) who thwarted Hitler's plan to invade Britain, during the air battles that took place from July to October1940.
Sadly, there is now only one Battle of Britain pilot still alive: Group Captain John Hemingway DFC of 85 Squadron, aged 101, who lives in Ireland.
Unfortunately, as with so many events, Commemorations will not be on the scale that were planned, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
