A Question for Wedgewood::::::::::

Postby Dan4th » Wed Apr 15, 2009 3:02 am

Please tell me why items on YouTube tend to
deteriorate over time both in the visual aspect
and in sound quality.....

I mean, EYE thought that "Digital is Forever", or
did I miss something.....

Some of my old faves are getting nearly un-watchable
or listenable. Why is this the case?

There are two in particular that I'm very upset to say
are now just total DRECK (!) after hundreds of thousands
of viewers/listeners......

I like to do my planning retroactively!

For me? :D I really don't know. Will do some research for you ;)

Youtube isn't like magnetic media, where it deteriorates over time. But saying that, who knows how Youtube handle their libraries. E.g. Older or high bandwidth clips - they may re-compress to a lower standard. Having said that, I doubt it - as they now do High Quality options. Although that could be a reason for lessering the quality of 'standard' clips.
