I use Photobucket and all my photos (both from scanned wet film slides and my Canon 450D) are uploaded at 1024x800 (or thereabouts). But I have always had trouble producing an Avatar of the correct size. ~x(

In my Control Panel - Profile - Edit Avatar - I have several options to use to upload pics from various sources. None of them seem to work for me.!! I know it is me as I can see some really good Avatars on here and I would also like to post one!!!

I understand the dimensions must be 120px X 120px with a max file size of 60KiB. But what does this mean exactly - or even roughly? :-o

I hesitate to say this but my 6 year old granddaughter has taken me to places on my PC that I never knew existed. =))

Don't know if this will help but. In Potophuket you can edit a picture and save a copy of it. I have done so in the past to reduce the size of a pic so it can be displayed within the required parameters.
I just open the pic I want, click Edit and play with it (then I start on the photo

)

I've done that Kev, 'till I nearly went blind, B-)

but I am stll Avatarless... BTW was it just me or was that film absolute pretentious gibberish...???

Amazed at how great your photo's are bearing that in mind mate

Sadly, I quite enjoyed Avatar.
Possibly more for the effects and cinematography (is that even a word)? I saw it in 3D and enjoyed it (I did get in for free though, know the manager at our local Vue)

Will return to the topic tomorrow when I am sober (ish) :))

I always size my pics before uploading - I just take the pic I want resize it to the correct size for an avatar then upload it - now is the tricky bit I never know which link to use so I just try them all until my avatar is accepted =))

I have never had a problem with the file size once I have resized it using the pixel size

Ahh now Pam you have put your finger on my problem!! :ymapplause:

I have tried all these upload options and I still get a 'failed' to upload message. I think that the critical issue is the 'file size' not the dimensions , pixel wise.

ie my 120 x 120px photos still exceed the 60 KiB upload limit.

Somehow (not sure if you can do it in photobucket) if its 120x120 but still over 60k then you will need to increase the compression.

I offer my services, if you want to send me a link/attachment on email (webmaster@iconicaircraft.co.uk) to a 120x120 images I will do the rest - even upload it to your user for you
