I pointed it out to Wedgy at the time, and
he thought it might have been some sort of
attack on the forum, but not to worry as
security is tight.....

We had over 100 guest users at once all
supposedly looking at user profiles.......

Is there anyway our email addresses can be accessed from this forum?

Since yesterday I have received the best part of 20 junk emails all spamming me about dodgy loans, fat loss pills, Mr Bob Johnston from Bogota offering me a mystery £10m inheritance............the list goes on!

Anything to do with yesterday? :(

No 'guests' can view profiles, so they would have just been presented with a login screen.

Blame Microsoft ... by shutting spammers down - the ones who are left just double their efforts :(

If anyone is worried about spam .... try not to display your email address on sites. For example, here you have no need to display your email if people can PM you instead. Just turn off "Users can contact me by e-mail: " in your User Preferences ;)

I regularly get spam from banks telling me I need to access my account - yesterday there were over 50 from egg alone... they go in to my junk folder automatically & I just delete the lot on mass - irritating but no problem, - what I do think is wrong it uses my bandwidth to have to download them, tho' I feel for those on dial up more.

They are more likely phishing emails than spam

when you follow their link and login, you are entering a fake site not the real one the 'phisher' then gets your detail to you bank account and can do with them whatever they please.
