posts disappearing?

Postby Yorkie » Wed Jan 13, 2010 5:13 pm

Hi

Still new over here, I have put two posts on to the forum and then when I have gone back in they are not there! Any idea's why? there was nothing in them for them to be modded and i have reposted the exact same post again and it has been accepted.

It's all very confusing

There used to be reports of missing posts, but haven't had any for months .... until now :(

Can you let me know which posts they were (that you reposted) and I will investigate.

I know some people fall foul of the feature that when you hit the submit button, but someone has posted while you were composing your post - an extra screen warns you and doesn't submit your post ... if you don't notice and hit another link instead - your post goes nowhere.

I suspect some over-zealous moderation ;)

Hi there

the two that disapeared and i reposted were:

http://www.iconicaircraft.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1745&start=400

10.39pm 12/01/10

and

http://www.iconicaircraft.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2188

Today

Both times it came up with the posted screen and the link to view post or go back to last page (which i impatiently clicked)

It doesn't stress me, as i check my posts after posting, in case my keyboard has a M$ moment and spells things wrong.

I thought i had to pay for moderation ;)

And I have never nearly never been moded anywhere maybe once somewhere!

I think it could be me being impatient at work (slow internet connection)

Two countries seperated by a (largely) common language!

The only thing I can think of is Server Load .... But I need to prove that.

I suggested a "Spam Thread" a while ago, but it didn't really get off the ground.

We need:

10 or more users available at the same time of day
All submit 10 posts to the same thread at the same time in quick succession (even if its counting to 10)

The whole process should only take 5mins and we can see if every user has their 10 posts still in the thread.

Well everybody certainly seems friendly and helpful over here! and can take banter ;)

If I can just say though, when I was over on the other forum I never knew much about this one, It was Andy (320psi) that told me about it, I had a very bad experience on Pprune and never went back, and stayed away from other aviation forum because of it.

Thanks

Nik

Strangely enough we seem to have quite a few members who have suffered on PPRUNE!

Well as some of you know, I have been over on TVOC for a few years, but registered on Pprune because of all the rubbish that was going on with the TVOC forum and the amount of folk disapearing. asked one question and got shot down by various people (how dare i ask a question) so gave up and kind of stuck with the TVOC one, but just went quiet (except Andy's thread).

So like I say, some familiar names over here, Still waiting for Naddy to say hi to her fellow Yorkshireman ;) but it's loads better. If only I had know before now.
