Missing posts

Postby Mayfly » Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:44 pm

Think its when 2 posts are made exactly the same time one gets lost in the ether - I've had 3 go missing today I'm sure 2 were bumped XP & one by Naddy.. ~x(

It could be a bottleneck at the server end .... as I said, last night was hectic :D But there is nothing I can do about that within budget - especially with the current number of sponsors.
It could be still something within the software .....

Question: Were the missing posts ever there? E.g.did you hit "submit" and it reloaded the thread without your post or was it there one minute and not the next time you looked?

If the former applies .... did you wait for the page to auto refresh after you hit "submit" or did you go immediately to "new posts" or similar link?

the posts never appeared Wedgy,

I said I think it happens when 2 post at the same time as it use to do exactly that on another forum I belonged too - tho that was worse be cause your posts would end up under the other posters name :))

I always do the same - hit submit & wait until it says 'this message successfully posted' then I either go to new post or board index - because I find it takes ages for the board to refresh automatically after a post

Might be able to get this problem once and for all (I'm 80% sure its not server side, but the software) ...

We need to get it tested though .....

1) Create a "SPAM" thread in Chit Chat or Fun and Games and organise a specific time for everyone to bombard it with posts.
2) The moment someones post goes missing post the fact its gone missing in the thread and everyone stop posting in that thread.
3) I can investigate that thread and make some changes
4) Repeat step 1 and hopefully step 2 won't occur ;)

Who's up for it?
I don't need to start the thread, nor do I need to be around when it happens .... just need to know where and when it happened ;)
