The Men Who Built a Steam Engine

Postby 10tus » Tue Dec 23, 2008 11:58 am

Documentary about the 18-year odyssey of a group of enthusiasts who set out to build a brand new mainline steam engine from scratch in 1990.
BBC4 tonight at 10pm. :D

Seen it all, done it all, just can't remember most of it.

Repeat from a month or so ago but well worth watching. I think it was also on BBC2 the other week.

Sky + set - thanks ;)

I was a bit disappointed in that ... 30 minutes didn't do it justice at all ... I saw a huge conrod being lifted out of a crate .. but how was it made - where was it made :( I'd like to have seen the big wheels being cast too.

This warrants a couple of hours of documentary I would have thought ;)

That's the trouble with programmes that are interesting - they are far too short. If they would only expend the same effort on these programmes as they do on X Factor etc. Worth it all the same :)
