Why not have a trip down south?

She'll be running on the Bluebell Railway from Saturday 31st July to Sunday 8th August 2010 inclusive. :)

Having been away for nearly two weeks recently (and not having had access to the 'world-wide-wait') I am only just catching up on matters.
Unfortunatey, there is some bad news on 'Tornado'. Following the 'Border Raider' Excursion on 25th June, two suspected leaking tubes were identified during a routine inspection at Stewarts Lane Depot on 26th June.
Consequently 'Tornado' has been withdrawn from service and no date, as yet has been announced for her return. Therefore, all of the subsequent allocated Excursions will have a replacement Locomotive; in this case, 71000 'Duke of Gloucester'. However, 'The Solent Tornado' for this Saturday (17th July) has actually been postponed to18th September. [The 'July' listings above have been amended to suit].

Thanks PW - it's a shame she'll miss the celebrations - 558 was rumoured last year to be attending but it's not on the display schedule on TVOC forum.

Hopefully she still will, both 50 years' old. Still not agreed 'though.

The Bluebell is cursed by visiting engines; but usually they fail after arriving. (But before running)

Tornado's Boiler has successfully passed the Hydraulic Pressure Test (following the repairs carried out at Hither Green Depot) and will be undergoing the Steam Pressure Test in the next few days. So it's looking good for the planned 'return to service' on 14th August.
