bomber command calendar

Postby Daddysgirl » Sun Nov 21, 2010 3:30 pm

Hi Guys & Girls, Daddy's Girl says hello!! ;)
Can anybody help me find the Bomber Command Memorial Calendar for my darling Dad for Christmas? I have searched everywhere & a thread from here caught my eye..unable to buy online?? Any suggestions, or suggestions for alternative calenders. Dad was a young man in the RAF, a Warrant Officer in the Air Training Corps for 30 years, first in Exeter, then in Wellington/Taunton in Somerset, working with boys (& latterly girls- not least because of nagging by me that I should allowed to join) get a foot up to life in the Services. Dad has his Wings as do 2 of my brothers. He is still stopped in the street by young men who have gone on to have very distinguished careers, who want to shake his hand for all he did. I just like the uniform personally - it's a girl thing - man in uniform & all that!!
Seriously though, time is running out Xmas is only 30 0dd days away & I'm struggling for ideas for my hero who has everything at 80 something years old! Lots of love & thank you in advance - Jayne xx :ymapplause:

Hi Daddysgirl - do you mean you are unable to buy on line full stop or you just can't buy a Bommer Command Calender on line?

Can't really help in locating a BC calender but have you thought about the BBMF calender?

or there is a 558 Vulcan one - not bomber command or WWII but a well loved a/c type

I know they will accept cheques..

and welcome to IA

Hi Mayfly. thank you - I didn't make it clear, it's the Bomber Command calendar that I can't find anywhere to be able to buy - online or anywhere else, but thank you so much for the link for an alternatives, I'll certainly try them both.

Ah! I see, so as I'm learning the ropes here, if I said my man has got a bigger canon than yours ( his is a 50D) & I still don't have a clue what the difference is, does that make me sound less intelligent? :)) :)) :)) You know guys, there's a reason we ladies choose to have blonde highlights in our hair, it's so we can use it as an excuse from time to time

50D is a newer version of the 40D and has now been superseded by the 60D!

I am now officially out of my depth with the Canon thing, the current Mr Jayne is not, of course. He also takes beautiful pictures. There's a great video of him flying his Vulcan on youtube somewhere. He also has a huge collection of hand made RC model aircrafts, & loves it that my rating is a Piper J-3 Cub cos he has one out in the garage that he was flying earlier. Our garage is full of planes - which is why we park our ££££££ cars on the road - makes sense doesn't it?

Blonde he isn't - he was once mind, 30 odd years ago, he's now silver haired & obsessed with standing on a hill or at an aerodrome flying his planes come rain or shine. His current build is on the kitchen table, 650" Slingsby Prefect.
The only Prefects I know are the ones in the school where I work.....blonde, see?

Thank you for all your help, I've enjoyed my first foray into a forum - had fun, succeeded in my search & talked to some lovely people. I should be doing things, annoying people (apart from all of you) & generally getting in the way of the Model building. In the words of the great & charismatic(?????) Arnie, I'll be back. Love & hugs Jayne x

Personally I don't think it's worth chopping in a 50D for a 60D.

I'm biased 'cos I got a 50D.

I don't think that was suggested, I am VERY happy with the 40D as you will know from my pictures! ;)
