Ok folks heres a couple of posts I did last year of a couple of flights I did in a RNZAF Mustang in FSX.
Yesterday I decided to try out the A2A Sims P51D Mustang with the Jan Kees Blom RNZAF repaints for Microsoft FSX. The repaints are free ware but the actual Mustang is US$18.99 and a 34MB download.
Go here for details
http://www.nzfsim.org/index.php?dsp=air ... ull&id=101The Mustang is incredibly detailed and sounds incredible both inside and out! (I downloaded a Spitfire once and I swear it was a Cessna soundtrack!!)
With the repaints you get NZ2415 as shown in the screenshots, NZ2423 and NZ2410. It mentions that NZ2410 is shown as the RNZAF Museum's example not the real NZ2410.
Here are some shots taken on the ground at Wigram (well Microsoft's idea of Wigram!)

Here I am about to wake up the boys in the tower at Christchurch.

Outside view as I pass over head doing 300kts plus!

And a great view as i bank round for another pass.

And a look down at the Airport with that lovely Mustang wing in shot.

On approach trying to get her to slow down on finals for Wigram.

Undercarriage down flaps down.......

Sadly I was still way too fast. bunny hopped down to the end and ran into a building!! Thank goodness it was a sim.
Heres some cockpit shots. Pretty much all the switches and levers work like the real thing and the detail is amazing. Hope these are ok they look a little dark to me.

I'm off to buzz Omaka now!!
And onto the next post:
Ok my little trip to Omaka went well and I managed to get her all nicely trimmed hands off. Did a buzz on Kaikoura and got all out of trim again! Not every switch works in the cockpit but all the ones pertaining to actually flying the aircraft work, most of the "War" stuff doesn't work but that's ok I've got nothing to shoot at!
I'll show you what the other paint schemes look like but first my little trip to Omaka.
Ok first I decided to have my Mustang(this time I'm in NZ2423) parked at the terminal. Good one, I thought I'm nose in here. Ahhh but with some power and left brake I swung round and just missed the airbridge.........................this time!

Soon airborne I left Christchurch behind me, 31" manifold pressure, prop set to 1600RPm and airspeed a respectable 215MPH.

Heading towards Kaikoura now here's a view inland from the sea.

And well past Kaikoura now with a Peninsula behind me whose name escapes me at the moment!

Found Omaka and roared in for a buzz and break.

In the circuit trying to slow her down lower the gear flaps, fuel pump on......

The knowledgeable among you will notice I was doing a left hand circuit but now seem to be doing a right hand turn onto final. Thats what you get for having your head down and not looking where you are going. But at least I got a nice curvy approach going and touched down safely.

Feeling I had "mastered" the Mustang I thought I would go beatup Woodbourne. Ah ha! Here we go aim for the runway and get some speed going!

Then flick to "Tower" view to watch the show.
Here I come.........

Ahhh what a pilot........

Now I'll just bank hard here oh nooooooooooooo....................

Bugger.
Oh well maybe I should stick to Cherokees!
Its interesting that this colour scheme doesn't have the roundel on both wings like 2415 or 2410. Plus she appears to have the US serial no. on the tail still.
Ok heres some shots of the other colour schemes.
First NZ2410

And the original aircraft The Flying Undertaker":

Hope you enjoyed my little adventure as much as I did flying it.
Next week aerobatics in a Bristol Freighter!
Baz ;D
(Yes I was kidding then..................but if I find a good one then look out!!)
Cheers
