just play with the programme Tom - don't look to do anything in particular just press buttons & see what they do & read the help menu if there is one

been playing with gmax today (very slow day at work) and have been trying the tutorials that are downloadable from the same site as the program, they are very good. Gmax is way more complicated than fsds but it hasnt got the bugs so i should be able to produce a very good Vulcan 698 prototype (VX777) will post my progress in a few weeks.
tom.com you should download the tutorials and have a play.

sorry SM but unless it is a painted cockpit window already (v-unlikely) you wont be able to paint it. The material in the model will be transparent so cant be painted.
altering the material properties is VERY complicated as the compiled model cannot be decompiled sorry

sorry SM but the model im making is an uncompiled Gmax project so you can edit any of the model details, once it has been compiled into flight sim i wont be able to edit it, i will only be able to edit the original file i have and compile that.
the model im making of the avro 707 is from scratch not a decompiled model, which aircraft are you repainting? if its a vulcan i may be able to send you a model of it without windows when i get back from canada.

how very odd, is that so you can land on the grass with a good excuse? :p
might be able to help you out there as i have a vulcan i made with FSDS and i can take the windows out of that one ;)
however its on my pc at home 3000+ miles away :(( i will send you it apon my return
here it is if you look really closely at the cockpit there are indeed no windows,
