Fashion!!

Postby Thumper » Tue Jan 18, 2011 12:36 pm

OK I understand that ladies are a bit of a minority on this forum but I can still direct this question at everyone I reckon.

I am watching 'This Morning' and my heart stopped for a moment.

They had some fashion bit on there, some over camp man going through "this seasons looks". His words were as follows:

"You can get this look for ONLY £450 and the great thing is, you can run this look right up until the end of Spring and then get it back out for Autumn"!

Why the HELL would someone spend £450 on 1 outfit and then come the end of Spring and Autumn go "oh my god, I can't wear it anymore, the man on the TV said so!"

Does anyone on here live like that or have a girlfriend/wife who is like that?

I just don't understand it. ALL the clothes and shoes I own probably amount to £450, if not less and I have owned the majority for the past 10 years! I also don't really care if my jeans are supposed to be worn in spring only, I wear them all year round and not once has anyone ever looked at me funny or stopped me in the street and told me that what I am wearing is "wrong" or "out of season".

Am I not "normal" or something? /:)

One million % agree wth you Helen, I doubt all the clothes I own come to £450 either :-o

And if I did ever spend that much on one outfit, it better bloody last longer than the end of spring/Autumn :))

And I'm more than aware I have no sense of style/fashion sense, I live in my jeans and T-shirts.
I might add one or two items a year, but most of the stuff I own is very old :))

That is a really nice dress :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Cannot go wrong with black, that's about as much as I know about fashion =)) =))
Which is a shame considering my nana (mums mum) was a dress maker and made wedding dresses for a living :))
Including the wedding dress for the lady who married who ever owned Gunby Hall (Near Skegness) in the 70's.

I don't do dresses or skirts.
I stupidly got talked into buying a skirt for the Vulcan christmas party a couple of years ago and I looked rediculus. I do not have the body shape to pull off dresses/skirts I just looks horrible in them :)) .

Love the feather idea, saw something like that in Monsoon before christmas £30 :-o :-o
How much is a pack of glue :))

Yes my hair will still be purple, although if I get some money together I was thinking of going back to the colour I had it 5 years ago which was aptly named High Voltage Red :ymdevil:

I'm painting the motorbike white so that'll save on hair dye, just use my original colour =)) :((

H wrote:I don't do dresses or skirts.

Me either Helen, I just look WRONG in them, hence the dress I am getting is down to my toes :)) I can't even remember the last time my legs were "out" in public. Oh no I do... it was when my leathers were cut off in the middle of the road after I fell off the motorbike =))

I personally think you should go and visit the nearest zoo, play chase with the peacock and then get some glue on the way home and have some fun making a fascinator =))

P.S... I didn't know it was called a fascinator until a few hours ago when I typed into google "need a hat for wedding" :p

I am now trying to use that word as much as possible so it looks like I am all fluffy and girly and know sh!t loads about fashion :^O

Well my dress arrived today and it doesn't fit ~x( Took it back and then went shopping with a friend who is considerably more girly than me. I hated everything I tried on so I so came home empty handed. I HATE shopping!! (Unless it's for camera equipment or motorbikes) :D

No I'll be wearing my bike leathers at this rate, plus judging by the current fashions I am going to need to find a vintage shop as everything "modern" is vile!

I'll go shopping again next Thursday, need a week to recover ya see. I have also been told that now I can't wear black as it's not a funeral and to try not to wear something "plain" ~x(

I had a quick look on eBay and thought this was a good statement :p
