Landed with an engine fire at tea time. All safe but apparently has blown a hole in the nacelles :(

Pictures make it look more like burnt through, she looked to still be on fire when she landed, top marks for the crew for getting her down again. Hopefully a engine replacement and some Polish will sort the old girl out.

Yes subsequently it does look like the nacellle is burnt through, hopefully it won't be too long before she's back in the air. Shame she will missed VE Day flypast.

Sorry to say they believe it will be quite a while before she's back in the air.

Yes I think I agree - They're hopeful it'll fly again this year, but I can't see it making this years airshow circuit - it's not just the engine as they've got a spare but what the fire did to the components in and around the nacelle. They're bound to do scrupulous checking for safetys sake because that's what the BBMF do - and quite rightly. ;)

From Facebook

Lanc Update

Following today's engine runs we have a few electrical indication problems to sort out on the No4 engine before it can be run up to full power. We hope to sort this out tomorrow. So on LLA day on Sunday she WILL NOT BE FLYING but we hope to carry out engine runs during the course of the day for all the people attending. If all goes well she will air test hopefully later next week. Paul B
