Black Mike from Leuchars was up for disposal but looks like it has [could be] saved.

Their bid was accepted but they still need to raise some of the money.

I love the shape of the Phantom ... why is this one called 'Black Mike' - yes I can see it's black - but why 'Mike' ??

Bunged a tenner in - just for the lovely shape :) I suppose it all helps :)

Yes, we've got it :)

Just gotta find the money to dismantle/move/re-assemble it now :)

It's the Americans, they won't let us run it. STRICT conditions of sale 'Static display and ground tuition'.

Also - 'Ground tuition' is ... "and, people being tutored, this is how the engine works" :D ;)

A few years on and apparently Black Mike is not going to Bruntingthorpe any more.

There are as one would expect, a few discussions as to why the plan has changed but some seem to think that the long term future for classic aviation at Bruntingthorpe is not looking good. The CW Jet day was cancelled because of the number of stored cars on the airfield, 20,000 or so last May tho' the CWJ day did take place in the end.

It appears Black Mike is going to Cosford to be titivated up for the 100th Anniversary of the RAF and will be on display in London. Not sure what the future holds for it after that.
